Florida Educator Accomplished Practices

What is it?
The state of Florida has implemented a set of standards that teacher, counselor, and school psychology candidates must demonstrate prior to their completion of an educator preparation program. Florida's 12 Educator Accomplished Practices were designed in 1996 by the Florida Education Standards Commission to specify what students needed to know to become certified teachers. The twelve Accomplished Practices required by the Florida Department of Education for state-approved teacher education programs are addressed in USF St. Petersburg College of Education programs and CDN Portfolio is a tool to process assessment of candidates on Accomplished Practices.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. How can I see the course and course assignment information?
Click on "Courses" tab on the top menu. "Courses" section will give you the course prefix, courses name, assignment name, assignment description, and matching standards.
  2. I took a different course and it is not listed on CDN. I would like to upload an assignment from the course. What do I do?
You can upload assignments for your portfolio even though it is not listed on CDN by selecting " Student's Own Selection".
  3. My course is listed but I would like to upload a different assignment from the same course (The assignment is not listed in CDN Portfolio). What should I do?
CDN Portfolio lists only the critical assignments for each course given by your instructor. If you decide to upload another assignment, please use "Students Own Selection".
  4. Both my course and its assignments listed. However, the same assignment is matching with multiple Accomplished Practices. Which Accomplished Practice should I upload this for?
If it is matching, you can upload the same assignment for up to three Accomplished Practices. Example: If EDE101 has a field trip assignment and it is matching with AP1, AP2, AP6, AP8, then you will be able to choose three AP's from the list and upload it in your portfolio. In this case you can choose AP1, AP2, AP8 OR AP2, AP6, AP8 or any other combination.
  5. What happens if I upload the same assignment more than three times?
The assignment will not count for the specific AP. You will NOT get evaluated.
  6. Do I have to upload every assignment from every class?
No, it is your choice to choose what to upload or not.
  7. How many assignments for each AP do I need to upload in order to satisfy the requirements?
It depends on your assignment and annotation. The minimum number to get evaluated is one. However, one document will not get you fulffilled. Evaluators recommend at least three assignments for each AP.
  8. I am a new student and do not have many assignments to upload? Should I wait for another semester?
Completing your portfolio will take time. As you take new courses, you will have many assignments to upload. However, you should not wait to upload the documents. If the course is over and you have your assignment, make sure you include that in your portfolio. The earlier, the better.
  9. I uploaded artifacts but I have not written/updated my annotation. What happens?
Your portfolio will not get evaluated until you have both the artifacts and annotation.
  10. What format should my assignment be in?
You can upload Word, PDF, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Works, Audio, Video and Images/Photos (gif, jpeg, jpg, png). Below is the list of the file extensions CDN accepts zip, rm, swf, wmv, mp3, midi, mpa, ra, ram, wav, wma, mid, avi, mov, mp4, mpg, qt, bmp, gif, jpeg, png, psp, tif, pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, rtf, txt, wpd, wps, db, dbx, mdb, mdbx, pps, ppsx, wks, pct, jpg
  11. I have only a hard copy of my assignment, how can I upload it?
You can scan the assignment and upload it in your portfolio. Computer lab at BAY225 has a scanner available for students and technical support/help.
